Show Your Bib!

Hey, Rock ‘n’ Roll marathon runners, show your bib! This year will be the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon’s 5th year running in Savannah, GA and we are glad they’re back. The marathon is a busy weekend with events that kick off with a free Health & Fitness Expo at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 5th and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 6th.  This event is not just for the runners, as it is free and open to the public to visit and hear what some of the leaders in health and fitness are discussing. An added bonus: there will be plenty of free samples and a showcase of some of the latest fitness gear and apparel.

The marathon itself will be a two day event from Nov. 7th to Nov. 8th. Day one is the 2-person relay, half-marathon and marathon taking place on Saturday. Runners start on Bay St. near Bull St. and end at Forsyth Park. These three runs start together at 7am but break off after the 11 mile mark. Sunday, day two, consist of the one mile, 5K and Kids Rock run. These all start at various times, leaving and ending at Daffin Park. Also, available for the second year in a row is the Remix Challenge. This challenge allows runners to take part in any race Saturday and another Sunday to earn the Remix Challenge Medal along with earning their individual Race Finisher Medals.

Along the way, runners are cheered on by not just spectators but at individual points on their course they will be greeted with live music from local performing bands. These bands help keep the Rock ‘n’ Roll energy going as runners bolt to the finish line. But the entertainment does not stop there. On Saturday, in Forsyth Park, Rascal Flatts will be the headlining performance for runners and spectators at the free finish line concert!

Other Events

With the marathon falling on a First Friday weekend there will be plenty of events for runners to take part in, such as attending the world’s largest low country boil. To get a preview of Savannah’s Food and Wine Festival runners can attend the Low Country Boil on Hutchinson Island. It takes place on November 7th 4:30-7:00pm. Runners just need to use their special Rock ‘n’ Roll runner promo code SAVRNR5 to save $5 off their tickets. Or you can show your bib or medal November 7th at the River Street Hopped Up at Georgia Brews event for $10 off the $40 VIP craft beer tasting.
